Hatco Releases Cold Serving Solutions with R-290 Refrigerant

Milwaukee, WI – March 2024 – Hatco® Corporation has introduced a new line of its Refrigerated Drop-In Wells, Drop-In Frost Tops and Cold Shelves utilizing R-290 refrigerant, the latest of many sustainability initiatives the company has launched over the years. 

R-290 is an environmentally friendly refrigerant-grade propane with an extremely low Global Warming Potential (GWP) value of 3, compared to other refrigerants like R-513A (GWP of 573) or R-404A (GWP of 3922). GWP is a measure of a gas’s impact on the environment relative to carbon dioxide (GWP of 1). 

R-290 has an extremely minimal impact on global warming and can be vented directly out of the unit into the atmosphere without needing to be recaptured or recycled. R-290 has a 90% higher heat absorption capacity than other refrigerants, resulting in quicker temperature recovery and lower energy consumption. 

Models for the R-290 Refrigerated Drop-In Wells, R-290 Drop-In Frost Tops, and R-290 Cold Shelves are available in 120, 220, 230 or 240V.
