As in “Time for a Change”… again!

We all know nothing stays the same. In my life, I would never have imagined a time when quarantining the country would take place and social distancing became an everyday word. I am dating myself a little however; I have lived through Mumps, Chicken Pox, Measles and many broken bones. As kids, when we called on our friends, we were knocking on the front door to their house so we could go play sports or other outdoor games. Kick the can comes to mind! Black and white TVs with the mandatory rabbit ear adjustments were common. Phones hung on the wall (landlines only) and yes, we played Pong. Work took place at the office in a suit and tie, computers were the size of a huge room (not held in your hand), typewriters were the fastest way to write letters and huge cameras with flashbulbs took our memorable pictures. Private lives used to be private, and if you fell down or were part of an awkward moment, it did not end up all over social media! What is this social media? Over 77% of people carry smart phones that see all! Shopping used to be a big deal. Load up the family car and head to huge stores filled with the latest treasures. It is just not the same…

Well, things changed again. Technology has changed the way we live, work, shop and carry on business. Texting and social media take the place of knocking on your friend’s front door. Work takes place at home and meetings are featured events via Zoom or other media. Online shopping happens every second of every day, and delivery of packaged goods has become huge business. Today if we are hungry, high-quality, full meals are available in the grocery store waiting for you to pick them up and head home. Need groceries? Order online and the store packs your order, places your items in a holding area, and makes sure they are ready and waiting for you to pick up. Oftentimes you can have them delivered. If you do not feel like venturing out or cooking, simply place your order on-line with your favorite restaurant, and a delivery service will bring your delicious food to your home quickly. In addition, you can track its progress. Sharing these experiences are common on social media.

Thankfully, things change! Because in times like this, the Foodservice Industry will deliver! Hatco builds equipment to help all these Foodservice Segments! We are thankful for your support and will continue to help the industry we all know and love to get through these hard times. Our thoughts, prayers, and good wishes go out to all in these ever-changing times. Wishing you and your families good health. Stay safe!
